Ellis collaborated with future U.S. Poet Laureate Donald Hall on a book, Dock Ellis in the Country of Baseball (ISBN 0-671-65988-X), which was published in 1976. Although Hall knew of the LSD incident, it was not included in the first edition of the book.

There is likely an argument to be made that this is the most impressive feat of athleticism in history. Right up there with Kerri Strug vaulting on a sprained ankle.

Thieves Jargon scooped this weeks ago.

Ellis also once hit three batters in a row and walked two others trying to hit them in an effort to fire up his team. They just don’t make athletes like this any more.

my vote is for the rookie schmo mike warren throwing one or Johnny Vander Meer throwing no-no’s back to back

or george brett almost hitting .400 with a bloody ass from crusty, bursting hemhroids

i can’t access from here but will tonight.

GB was my hero as a kid in KC. i nearly vomited when his batting avg dipped under .400 and i knew he’d never get it back up

in ’85 when they won the WS, i think that was the happiest time of my life

ha, the pine tar thing was hilarious…gaylord p trying to hide the bat

holy crap, that is cool about them getting together. i believe roseboro forgave JM at some point, too, but not sure.

i remember watching a clip of that as a kid…doesn’t seem so awful now that people on youtube and filecabi post their brutality every day

i am now disavowing G Brett forever. i like Ken better and Willie Wilson and Jamie Quirk.

i used to live near leawood/prairie village and was there in the early 80’s…moving right before they won it all in 85.

Wait. I can’t follow these reply threads.
Disavowing because of the crapping his pants story? Because when I heard that a year or so ago, it kind of made Brett my fave baseball player ever!

ha, aaron, yeah the shitting the pants thing is funny

after moving away from kc i followed brett every day via the newspaper for years, regardless of where i lived

i dunno, the shitting the pants thing sort of floored me today. i can’t believe i didn’t hear about this a year or so ago…actually i think a friend of mine mentioned it to me when the story “broke” … but i thought it was a joke and never opened the youtube video

it’s pretty damn funny and maybe tomorrow i’ll like george more than his brother ken and even hal mcrae
