I especially like the implications of your point re: the second opening of a short story, or the ramification of openings. 

Seems like a similar idea to what Jacques Derrida has called the &quot;rending/mending&quot; of the text, where a hole (opening) is made and then re-worked into the fabric (that might be a mixed metaphor, sorry), but remains a knot, such that the text at hand becomes a series of integrated knots, or &quot;erasures.&quot;</description>
