Thank you so much. I searched the bookstore and left very disappointed. Not only because of Trakl, but the general state of popular lit. and the absence of any sort of back list. I was also looking for Plath's short stories and something beyond mattie stepanik in poetry. I think I was crying as I ran out of there (I can't run, it is for dramatic effect). I think what I need to do with my spare time is open something like 'Pilot Books'.

Jhon,

three years is a long time to wait.
Do yourself a favor and get the Daniel Simko tranlation of Trakls' Autumn Sonata, if you can find it -
http://www.amazon.com/Autumn-Sonata-Selected-Poems-Georg/dp/1559212519/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1268770589&sr=8-3

Until you do, here are 20 poems translated by Robert Bly & James Wright - http://www.dreamsongs.com/Files/Trakl.pdf

yeah, he's one of my favorite poets for a long time. i'm experiencing un-admirable feelings of halfway wanting to keep him to myself. but then, i always want to comprise an exiled aristocracy of one.

I feel as though I was in Plato's cave and am now seeing the light of this genius. Thank you for the link and I am now eagerly anticipating this book.
"Delicious: to stagger drunk in the darkening forest.
Cruel bells ring through black branches.
Dew drips on the face."
this is the stuff that great poetry is made of, what I aspire to.
