This is a 1966-68 painting by conceptual artist John Baldessari, f.y.i.
thanks!
baldessari is the man, i suggest investigating further
I love this painting! I saw it once I think at LACMA? I also have it as a fridge magnet which is strange but delightful. I find it very comforting.
Makes me want to write a kind of abstract, surrealist book in a light tone with lots of scenery, flowers, naked people, and starfish–starring Madonna, a cock, and a bull.
Can we add Maritime narratives and Kia dealerships to this list?
(free of morbid props… dead birds, etc.)
If you live in NY, you should check out John Baldessari and Frederic Tuten in conversation FREE at CUNY Grad Center, April 26, Tue, 6:30pm, Elebash Recital Hall, more deets here: http://www.centerforthehumanitiesgc.org/calendar/details/257-fred-tuten-and-joe-baldessari
