p.s.: if you have a long standing submission that has not been responded to (sorry, we got super backlogged!), we will now be considering those texts for web only, as this next issue, as you see on the site, will feature only texts of unusual length. if you aren’t down with web publication, please let us know, and again, sorry for the long blank. we’re dumb.

curious, is there a submission deadline for the issue? or is it like once it’s filled it’s filled?
great to hear this is happening. nc is one of the rare showcases for literature that has sentences of itself and packed like smarm does, so i’m excited.

it’s one of those things that doesn’t mean anything. you know, like pw/lj reviews.

Outstanding. I love the idea.

I want to get 65 people together, each write 150 words of a cooperative 10k word story, each pay $10, have it published in No Colony, and each get to claim the Pushcart nom. Who’s with me?

Awesome. Let’s do an exquisite corpse. Write 150 words and pass it on. Yes? Think we could actually get 65 people together? I guess we could just have it be person to person. But then it could get stuck. We should have a good chunk of people involved to begin with.
September 24th, 2009 / 2:57 amdarby—
i’ll play too
September 24th, 2009 / 10:14 amShya—
Do a post for people to sign up, Ryan. I think if we get, say, twenty people before we begin, we could be sure to get the rest.

so is Jimmy Chen’s joke link above really related to nc?
in other words is nc really selling a slot?
reply
September 24th, 2009 / 12:05 pmJimmy Chen—
all links and essential text are culled from actual NC site; it’s not a joke, at least on my part.
September 24th, 2009 / 12:43 pmanyreads—
got it Jimmy, thanx
good for NC if they can get the $
not worried about credibility though? or taking pushcart too as the joke it is?
but honestly i still wonder if i’m not “getting” something in the guidelines here. is NC lookin for real longstories right now for real?
September 24th, 2009 / 12:37 pmNathan (Nate) Tyree—
I’m in

Wait — is this for the offer with or without the colonoscopy and the Lynch-directed .mpeg of it?
If it’s with, count me in too.

they’re looking for 9000-20000 word stories/novellas, it seems.

ok i’d gotten that, just wondered if there was anything else.
site intrigues me yes but i’ve never (yet) taken in the printed mag. no samples online but list of contribs suggests its all the same youthful webwriting surreailly language orbit. admit to have been really turned off by one of its parent mags as it exists online so don’t know if i’d like the work in NC either. would love to see samples not just references to filmguys like john waters (or was it david lynch? i don’t care for either so i guess no matter). they like burroughs. would they print a lost burroughs routine? does it have to be exquisite-corpse crazy or what about the other beats? or bukowski? what’s in the thing?
