the second one is even cleverer than the writer probably knows (maybe he/she does and I’m not giving him/her enough credit) because the first bit tricks you into thinking it’s the same quote, essentially “pretending” to write out the quote from the book, then nailing you with the insult.

i mean, i could be wrong? but, the first quote was up for quite a while last semester. then someone wrote in another handwriting under it afte salinger died: ‘Howd that work out for you?’
then the janitor cleaned it all off.
then the same person rewrote the ‘deaf mute’ quote up again a couple weeks ago, and i went in to take a shit today, and saw this new quote. the photo doesnt show it, but there does appear to be pretty big difference in handwriting.
