It all started when my girlfriend read this East Bay Express review:

This led me to believe that Little Ashes could be the film equivalent to Kenny G’s unauthorized “duet” with Louis Armstrong’s “What A Wonderful World” and this subsequent track:
Kenneth Goldsmith & Jonathan Zorn
“Slobodan Milosevic and Kenny G”

On the album cover, Kenny G appears to have taken a “Golden Shower”:

The Fountain remains behind glass at the SF MoMA to this day.

This is the website I was brought to for that image of The Fountain via Google:
Brian Eno did not pee on Duchamp’s toilet for no reason.

In this film Stan Brakhage explains why he chose not to use sound in his work:
Directed by Stephen E. Gebhardt and Robert Fries

There once was a video on YouTube which combined clips from a variety of Stan Brakhage films into a music video for Stereolab’s track “Brakhage”:
But the video has been removed, not to ensure the integrity of Brakhage’s images, but to protect the commercial interests of a pop band, albeit a pretty good one – so it goes.

The music in this video is labeled Stereolab’s “Brakhage,” but it most certainly is not, which means “guitaoist” most likely downloaded an mp3 which was labeled incorrectly in order to get some other, more inferior pop band some “exposure,” effectively pissing on Stereolab and Stan Brakhage at once:
Seems like the work of a lunatic or an “outsider artist” but it’s probably just some bored kid. I’m not sure I could tell the difference if I had to. He probably isn’t aware he’s in a “pissing contest.”

Unfortunately, these “pissing contests,” inadvertent or not, well-intentioned or not, unwitting or not, will probably never end, not as long as money and mediocrity exist, and let’s not kid ourselves:
For some reason they go hand in hand.

I still have not seen Little Ashes, nor will I ever pay money to do so; I would much rather piss on it, or rather, them, the ashes, I mean:

Little Ashes was surprisingly not bad!! The scenes where Lorca was seducing Dali were downright hot. Really enjoyed the Spanish actor who played Lorca.

do you think that’s my fault, olga?
not trying to be snarky – i’m genuinely curious. this post was an experiment in the kind of essays done by people like triple canopy – http://canopycanopycanopy.com
i don’t pretend it’s perfect or anything; certainly it doesn’t read the way you’re probably used to reading things. i feel like it should come with a disclaimer, but then maybe you wouldn’t care enough anyway. if you’d like to email me (presuming that you do care) it’s reynard.seifert((at))gmail.com
