  1. Jay Easton Janowitz

Victor LaValle is a dubious writer. I tried to read The Ecstatic and Big Machine and they were uber-mediocre, esp. Big Machine. Dude spends way too much time getting his characters to and from one place to another. Boring. So is Kunkel.

  2. Lincoln

I’m surprised John Wray didn’t make either list.

  3. Nick Antosca

I like LaValle a lot, actually. I liked Slapboxing with Jesus & Big Machine.

  4. Nick Antosca

Me too. Especially because he was born in 71.

  5. Vaughan Simons

I am excitedly, almost breathlessly, awaiting the list of Everyone Under 40.

  6. Mark C

I heard LaValle speak recently and I thought he was incredibly insightful. I wasn’t nuts about Big Machine, though. I really wanted to like it, but I just wanted invested.

A list is an advertising device, ancient.

      So.

      Sew.

      Exactly.
