Imperial Bedrooms seems to fit right as a sequel to Less Than Zero and fits as the theme of mystery/paranoia has become more and more prominent in Ellis’s recent work.
I’ve never been to Los Angeles, but Ellis makes it sound like the loneliest place on Earth.
Damn, out of everything Ellis has written I thought Less than Zero was his best. That review puts me off his new one more than anything.
When the Tao Lin hype was flying around I always thought of that and Less than Zero. In an age when it’s impossible to deny that boredom or ennui is one of the defining characteristics of life en masse I’ve always thought, how the fuck do you got about writing that without winding up a symptom yourself?

After having read Less Than Zero and The Rules of Attraction, I was disappointed with Imperial Bedrooms because I didn’t believe that’s what would have happened. But I do agree that the last 30 pages were good.

I never liked Less Than Zero all that much. Feels like he flinches in it. I really loved The Informers and American Psycho, however.

As a person who shelves books at the library for a living, I keep my eyes out for the short and curlies… they do end up lodged in some baffling tomes…

I loaned a friend of mine Opus Pistorum once and there was a small cum drop on one of the pages. I questioned him about it, he admitted in full.
I thought Imperial Bedrooms was fucking great, particularly the last 30 or so pages.
Lunar Park is one of the dumbest books I’ve ever read.
new one is legit. lunar park slays.
