Just listened to Samuel “Chip” Delaney (of Hogg and Dhalgren) read a long, amiable, detail-rich story about a fellow who likes eat his own excrement and semen.  Feel sort of fatalistic, for some reason.

A century ago on a Compuserve BBS (remember those?), Neil Gaiman referred to The Mad Man — Delany’s AIDS-era epic — as (and I’m paraphrasing from memory) a story about aliens, I think because of the fixation on certain, erm, substances. And Hogg is relentless in its chronicle of awfulness.
