An illustrated account of a McSweeney’s list by Teddy Wayne that I find humorous. Teddy Wayne is really funny, and check his thesis on Infinite Jest.

      Is this one of those “discuss among yourselves” kind of things, or what? You can’t expect this to be interesting after a “reading on the toilet” post.

      You’re fucking kidding me with this thesis, right? Professors get a lot of money and tenure to read shit like this. I will not shit enough times in my life to read a thesis like this. Not impressive, Chen.

      it is sad that a post about the talented teddy wayne has become about m——– s————, by the latter’s own devices. this democracy of comments needs a coup.

      Hey, that’s funny!
      Btw., on April the 1st (Birthday of Gogol and Day of Fools [and my b-day btw.]) Google made a tribute to Gogol (especially because he [Gogol] became 200 years old on 1st April 2009). They made a Gogol-Doodle, or if you want, a Gogol-Google-Doodle.

      Man, I love a Gogol-Google-Doodle!

      The idea of this doodle was btw. inspired by idea of Gogol himself: As he wrote his novel “The Nose” (“Нос”), he titled it initially as “Dream” (“Сон”), but then he changed the letters in palindromic way:
      Сон => Нос.

      I recently attended a party at the Ukrainian Embassy in London celebrating the twentieth anniversary of Ukrainian independence and Gogol’s bicentenary. I was subjected to a Gogol search and they found nothing. Twice.

      There were two women in traditional costume playing banduras – a beautiful instrument that produces a delicate shower of notes less harsh-sounding than a zither. In one of the front rooms was an exhibition of social realist paintings none of which looked real and none of which was a portrait of Gogol.
