Maybe I should have gotten one of these notes years ago.
I had the authorities called in after I sent a refrigerator-sized box to Laura Rosenthal at Exquisite Corpse. It contained a simulated snuff film called SNUFF along with an inflated male sex doll with realistic vibrating penis (batteries installed) that I attached a marriage proposal to. The rambling (I was a little out of it at the time) note said that the doll and video were to help her prepare for our married life together. I think Laura posted a note in the following issue that she’d been freaked out by the package yet at the time I couldn’t understand why.
To their credit (and after eventually realizing that the snuff video was fake & the package was intended to be at least partially a prank), EC did not take out a restraining order against me or discourage me from sending future submissions, making inquiries. I think they even bought clothes for the doll and named him.
