You Are Sort of There: The “Richard Yates” Launch at BookCourt, 9/9/10

Waiting to go on. And--presumably--to exhale.

Adam Wilson, our esteemed host.

Ragin' James Yeh

Christian Lorentzen, author of Tao's gauntlet-throwing Observer Profile.

Self-explanatory, yeah?

Megan Boyle receives the attentions of boys with elan, nalgene.

The Q&A was lengthy and informative, but some people needed more.

Miles Ross and David Fishkind. The latter has a short piece in the new Bookforum.

'bro' 'x' '4' -- or whatever

So that’s that. Hat tip to Dennis Cooper, who coined the phrase/existential indeterminacy of “you are sort of there.” And, as if you needed me to tell you, Tao’s blog is here. Come see us again sometime, won’t you Fishkind?

After reading this The Observer profile I became interested in reading Tao Lin.

But since Tao Lin wanted a tattoo, instead of “fuck america” he should have gotten “america fuck”.

Looks like a good time. If I lived in Brooklyn I would’ve been there. I almost didn’t recognize Tao in the first pic. Haven’t seen him smile before.

Surprised there hasn’t been more talk on here about Joshua Cohen’s review of Richard Yates in Bookforum. But maybe that’s sort of taboo for this place since the review involves one HTMLG associate gently (not really) trash-talking another HTMLG associate. Or is it maybe an in-joke between Joshua and Tao?

  18. People from Mars

This place seems to really like Tao Lin for some reason.

That fourth photo could have been used on the HIPSTER post a few days ago. The little smirk on the guy second from the left makes me want to smack him.

Agreed. that or “American Fuck” and then a rating on five star scale.

But that might be a little too ironic. We don’t want to let the “hipster” term easy to throw around.

confused—-is Tao signing ‘Freedom’ for the heck of it? don’t get the “self-explanatory” caption….haven’t read freedom yet…

  38. BlahBlahBlah

Uh-huh… a writer that Augustine doesn’t like gets positive coverage here… must be a conspiracy. Not because people actually like his books or anything.
