The Yellowstone “super volcano” has always been my greatest apocalyptic fear.
The earth is freaking wild. I had no idea Yellowstone was such a volatile place. I knew about the super volcano and stuff, but not that there is so much activity with land and elevation shifts.
Don’t forget Mt. Rainier, within spitting distance of a million people and the tallest mountain in the contiguous 48. The first thing that would happen would be an immediate cascade of scalding poisonous gas, ala Pompeii.
When Jellystone bubbles up and pops, it’s going to be really cool. For a few minutes.
Love that you posted this, dude. I have been obsessed with the aftermath of Yellowstone exploding for years. It’s a really weird obsession, I know. But fascinating stuff, yes. I even wrote a story about it. (Not to be all hijacking your thread for self-promotion–more like if anyone’s really into this stuff they’re welcome to read it.)
