Can I have a cigarette again, please?

Lydon just hypnotized me. Thanks, B

What ever happened to Tom Snyder? I could hardly pay attention to John Lydon with Synder’s tan skin and salt and pepper hair somewhere just off screen.

Great post man. PIL just put out a re-issue of Metal Box in the original format by the way.

You know Keith Levene was in the Clash for about three weeks as well before he stopped coming to practice and Strummer kicked him out. Yet another great example of why not to do heroin.

No. He was a third guitar player (along with Jones and Strummer). And actually, I think Levene is the one who was instrumental in getting Strummer into the band(away from Strummer’s pub-rock band The 101er’s). This was even before The Clash had their first drummer–Terry Chimes.

There’s a really interesting book by Phil Strongman called Metal Box: stories from John Lydon’s PIL, which came out a couple of years ago. There’s some real interesting stuff in it. If you like PIL I think you’d really like it.

      Keith Levene: “We’re jetlagged”.

Yes, look closely as the cameraman zooms in on Keith Levene’s drooping, glassy-eyed face.

John Lydon’s stare, though. What a stare.

Of course, 28 years later in the UK, he could be found on TV doing this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hzQsvxtLTM
