The Rumpus Long Interview with Dave Eggers, who I think is a charitable, talented guy. It’s sad that there’s such a pervasive Hate Eggers club out there, existing outside of artistic criticism.

Yeah, I didn’t really like that Velocity book, but liked most of his other stuff and I really like his can do attitude. We need more go-getters like Eggers.

i sometimes don’t know how i feel about him as a writer, but from what i can tell of him as a human being and an advocate for writing, from that i think he’s pretty great.

What they said. The anti-Eggers is weird. It seems too simplistic to say it’s jealousy? When someone does lots of stuff maybe there’s the impression that they’re trying to show off? In interviews sometimes he can come off stand-offish. Dunno.
