The interactions I’ve had with people who teach there — particularly Brian Evenson and John Edgar Wideman — have been overwhelmingly positive and kind-spirited.

And, to be fair, maybe the sample size of my experience is too small to draw such generalities.

I should have clarified: seems like the ‘voice of a blog’ can easily fall into the realm of a character.
pretty much anything can be fictional. the world is a wacky place full of predators and prey, and also sometimes there is silverware. sometimes there is blood.
most people are way too nice. my favorite people are angry because the world is fucked and, like death, we need to be reminded, clearly.

that last sentence is my favorite sentence for the week. and i’ve been reading salter. instead of greeting people with usual “hi, how’s it going, lovely/awful weather we’re having” swill the new costumary greeting should be more like “hey fucker, ready to get dead some day.” that would make the world a better place, or at least tip the balance of complacency maybe.
