I think I could use some of that money.

Great. Fence, Archipelago, Les Figues, Dalkey, SPD, ZYZZYVA, etc.

I really don’t see how anyone could find this list less than laudable.

And Rose Metal! Congrats, ladies!

I thought it was a great group of recipients save for Narrative. It is… an outrage that they received an NEA grant while charging $20 a submission. It’s criminal

Particularly glad to see some Boston Review support, with or without Junot Diaz. Diaz is a bonus.
Also, whoa, hello: Coffee House Press. Sam Savage and more. I like when the good guys get some government money.

I was struck by that choice too. One of these things is not like the other.

I mean really. I can’t even believe they have the chutzpah to APPLY.

This is a good list. I wish NEA gave more micro-grants, though, and shaved some off of the top of those $50-80k grants. The ROI for $3-6k given to small hardworking presses/journals would be much higher than the ROI of the same amount at a place with a much larger budget.

I agree. We applied and didn’t get the grant and I called the NEA (who were awesome and really generous with offering feedback on our application) and they basically said we’re just too small even though we have the match. It was pretty depressing. We could move to 2 issues a year with a $5K grant and pay writers which is what we applied for.

Do you have to be a 501c3 to apply or just an arts organization?

What does One Story spend their money on? I wish they’d hire a designer or something. They could really use help with their presentation, mainly those dull covers.

Kick to the ass!! And Tupelo Press should give their money back and all flash related monies should go exponential. Big.

Sorry, Brandon, I don’t, but there’s one in the current Conjunctions and another pending in the winter issue of The Southern Review.
