I’m still reeling from the pathos of this simple graphic. I’ve thought of that walk of hers many times (knowing something similar probably waits for me in my little life). Yet there it is as a banal Google Maps directional aid. In her final paragraph of writing she got the date wrong by ten days.
I don’t suppose Google Maps would work for Hart Crane’s final decision.

a long walk: do you suppose she went straight there or did she take a more circuitous path, say, enjoy the scenery just one last time? seriously though, i too will add in my wow. thanks, jimmy.
i actually began a more elaborate post with satellite views examining the path she might have took, but it seemed wholly presumptuous and i was put off by it, so i settled for a homage without commentary

Thelonious?
Thanks, Jimmy, for posting this. It made me go reread some of my favorite paragraphs of hers.

Wow. Thanks for a simple yet surprisingly shocking picture.

All that white space. The dark shadow. It is awfully poignant.

Yes, I want to add my wow to the wows, really made me think about her work.
(also March 28th is my birthday.)
