Blake Butler—
1. Apple’s dabbling in the censorship business, specifically Ulysses.
2. Kimberly King Parsons gives Eugene Marten’s Firework five stars at Time Out New York.
3. Simmons interviews Tom Bissell at Fanzine
4. I rewatched Dead Ringers for the first time in about 10 years last night. Man, that movie is fucked up.
dead ringers found a 15 year old me suddenly obsessed with aberrant medical instruments
Cronenberg once said of Dead Ringers that it is a speculative fiction that begs the question, “What if there were such a thing as identical twins?”
haha. i remember feeling similarly obsessed with something else around that age from that film, having no idea what i’d seen. i think i wanted a copy of me more than anything.
i think he speculated it out pretty thoroughly. i mean, ouch
Apple says no nudity? that’s not cool at all
It’s not the instrument, it’s the body. The woman’s body is all wrong!
Dead Ringers isn’t “fucked up” it’s beautifully fucked up
Every time I see Dead Ringers I get goosebumps all over. It is so disturbing and so elegant. One of my favorite movies, ever. I saw it as a young teenager and basically didn’t go to the gynecologist for the next decade.
i told my girlfriend “deadringers” was about twin gynocologists who date the same women without them knowing, so she thought it was a comedy.
big mistake.

i know. i saw this somewhere else and that was just about it for me in terms of an ipad or iphone. as long as you’re restricted to their content store, you’re asking to be put in a walled garden.
but what i was into most were the “instruments for working on mutant women”
