      But “transoceanic land-bridges” weren’t/aren’t the only theory competing with ‘the Bering land-bridge’ to explain how spores, seeds, shoots, insects, birds, and small land mammals could have crossed the Pacific (in either direction). When the first humans to reach (for example) Hawai’i got there, they found not (only) desert, but rather (mostly) jungle.
