Ken Baumann—
Chris Kraus delivers an excellent review of the first comprehensive biography of Simone Weil. This functions as a good intro to Weil’s philosophy, too.
Not sure what “comprehensive” means here, but McLellan’s Weil book – Utopian Pessimist – is quite good. An interest in how Weil philosophized by living mindfully would, in my view, grapple with her working out of the terms “decreation” (‘the purposeful movement from being to not-being’) and “metaxu” (Gr. ‘between’).
Pétrement wrote a biography of Weil as well.
enjoyed this. thanks!
