Emily Kendal Frey’s THE NEW PLANET is now available from Mindmade Books. Some of these poems recently leapt into Real Poetik
PITY
I feel sorry for people who fall in love with other people.
We wait on the boat’s deck to see a whale.
What we see are waves.
Dead-hearted tomatoes bobbing up and down.
Ocean of hearts.
I can think of no better description of these poems other than “epigrammatic blunt dreams ends.” And let’s not forget about FRANCES

Never read any of these poems, but I’m pretty positive that there should be a ban placed on describing art as subverting in any way the “seeming banality of everyday events and observations.” Just sayin’.
i don’t really disagree with you at all, but also emily kendal frey’s poems are fucking amazing, and also there is a poem posted in the body of this post, so if you read the post you read a poem, so there is that. sometimes publisher’s say silly things. brian did not say a silly thing. he stated facts. i am standing by his facts. kevin, you should look into these poems, because they are probably awesome, as everything i’ve ever read by her as also been awesome, and there is not sign yet that this is not how things will continue.
Yay! Emily’s poems are just great nuggets of beauty and power.
and when I say beauty, I sort of mean beautiful ferocity.
Emily’s poems are nuggets.

Oh yeah definitely, nothing against Emily or Brian—I was commenting totally on publishers/jacket copy writers/reviewers in general. Should’ve been clearer, my b.

Can’t wait to see her read with Evelyn Hampton and Bryan Coffelt at Ampersand in Portland on July 2nd. I’ll have to get my brain prepared for that night.

That’s the Gint in a nutshell–buy this book by my friend/coworker/colleague/accomplice/blurber/blogpal/
employer/employee–although I certainly won’t identify them as such–you know, it’s just a book I picked up.
I appreciate Foley’s honesty.
