Dennis Cooper = !!!

In honor of his brand new collection ‘Ugly Man‘ (which I am all kinds of excited for), a couple of video interviews with Dennis Cooper about the book and his career, publishing, and punk, from Harper Perennial’s Olive TV videos.

How could you not love this man?

If you happen to be in the area, Dennis will be reading tonight at Skylight Books in LA.

You can also pick up a copy of the book or browse inside it.

And if for some reason you aren’t already on the map, Dennis’s blog is a daily must read.

So glad to encounter this here. A great and very important writer whom I have been following since my teens.

i read Guide first — that one’s a bit more dense than some of the others, maybe. the first book in the cycle, Closer, is a good starting point. The Sluts is my favorite.

first read cooper at like 19 or so, often in the “cool” coffeeshop in my neighborhood of st. paul. had this idea that some other guy would see me reading it and we’d strike up a conversation about him and fall in love and that would be that. shockingly, never happened. i still entertain the same fantasy when i’m reading on the subway.

“Oh, Fathers and Crows, huh? Nice. Wanna make out?”
