Contests & Snippets

Whoa, you’d be crazy not to read “Object,” by Richard Wehrenberg, Jr over at Slingshot, then say something about it somewhere on the Internet. These “please help” campaigns are risky, but I appreciate the faith, passion and sacrifice that goes into them. Sacrifice? Well, damn, Josh Kleinberg is giving away a bunch of (20) really great books to people who do him the kindness of promoting the stories. 75% of the books, he says, will be hard for him to part with. Go take a look. (Google alerted me to this deal because one of the books he’s giving away is mine. Thanks Josh!)

This is story is the type I like to show my students (and will). The sentences bend and writhe over themselves. I could read it just for the sentence work. Oddly, I had a Diane Williams feel, but maybe because her sentences always make me blink.

Heck yeah, that story is really good. A good one to teach and a good one to just read and enjoy.

So did Lutz and Lin get together and write a story?

I’m maybe just being antsy, but I’m afraid the instructions I posted earlier are unclear in a way that might be off-putting. Extraordinarily simple rules have been re-posted.

      These are them, though:

-announce in some verifiable way (blog, twitter etc.) pretty much ANYTHING about slingshot or this contest

      OR

-submit something, or cause someone else to submit something.

      THEN

-tell me which book you want of the ones listed here: http://00oo0.blogspot.com/2010/02/in-which-i-offer-you-one-of-twenty.html
