Caption Contest Winner
No. Stop. I don’t need your help. I can do it myself.
— Ben White
[Notes from judge Jeffrey Brown]:
It was pretty interesting to read these entries, I didn’t expect to have them be such a wide range of styles and concepts. There were others I liked too, but here’s my top three runners up:
-Michael: “FIRST!” Funny, but would’ve been even better if it had been the first comment. But simple, and effective, and funny.
-Mather Scneider: “Can’t live with them, can’t jump on the floor and die.” A good, quick quip of a caption.
-Ryan Call: “Thank you for the opportunity to consider your manuscript. We’ve read it with care but have decided not to accept it for publication. Best of luck placing it elsewhere.” A more thoughtful entry, a little esoteric, but for some reason I liked it. Has a few different ways to read it, which works both for it and against it.
And my choice for the winner:
-Ben White: “No. Stop. I don’t need your help. I can do it myself.” I kept coming back to this one. It’s the one that made me laugh inside the most when I first read it, and still smile when I read it again. Fits the comic well without trying too hard.
Congrats to Ben White, and thank you Jeffrey Brown for helping out. And thank you all for playing along.
