Yes! I knew Gallo could act even more foolish if he tried hard enough!

(I like Buffalo ’66 and I love The Brown Bunny)

Ryan Trecartin is someone who sends me—way against my wary relativism—into orbital levels of praise, i.e. “most groundbreaking artist of his generation” and shit. That dude is just so amazing. The first time I found I-BE AREA, I watched it all day and couldn’t stop thinking about it for weeks.

Fun fact: HTMLGIANT bud and fav Rachel B Glaser has a cameo in I-BE AREA and is friends with Trecartin.

I-BE AREA. Man. It’s so good.

Sometimes, you know, you look around and read a little and put a coat on and hang out and read the news online and do Chatroulette and fall asleep and wish you were a cowboy, or you were alive when Bob Dylan still had acne, or you owned a cap circa Sherlock Holmes, but Ryan Trecartin’s films make me so meltingly glad to be alive right now and make me want to really love everything that freaks me out.

I’m with Mike, Ryan Trecartin is unfathomably awesome.

I first saw I-BE AREA at the Wexner Center art gallery in Columbus, OH. I sat in that dark room and watched the video loop and loop and loop for a very long time. I had never seen anything like it. Such primal creativity such uninhibited rabid ferocious explosiveness. I’d call it sublime in the true Kantian sense: I am both attracted by it and afraid of it.

I wish I knew what Rachel looked like so I could spot her cameo!

Fuck yeah ryan trecarting is phenomenal. Had me questioning a lot of my approaches to writing/making art. All, or at least most, of his films can be seen unbroken on Ubuweb if anyone is interested. You seen I-Be area blake? Seems like with your interest in rooms/hidden spaces it’d up your thematical alley.
