I am excited about this. I saw them a few years ago at the Touch and Go anniversary festival and they were still as awesome live as they were way back.

The story behind the band is that the musicians went into the studio and improvised everything on the spot. So the vocalist, not having any lyrics written, just grunted noises as the band played. It’s not the mess you’d imagine it to be, a band recording without any ideas or music beforehand.

My friends and I used to play a game where we’d spout of a bunch of Bixler’esque default words and then guess whether we were actually saying ATDI/Mars Volta lyrics.

It’s mostly true, but on the album ( ), it’s all sung in a “made up language” that Jonsi uses when working out vocal melodies to their songs. Instead of actually fitting lyrics to the songs on this album, they just kept them in Jonsi’s language.
