I know we already linked to it, but Mark Baumer’s walk-across-America trekblog is awesome.

one of my favorite videos of mark’s is this promotion he did for ‘reality hunger.’ i don’t even like the book but when he walks into that class, i like how the teacher is pretty chill. nonplussed but still rolling with it. [http://vimeo.com/9870279].

I saw Mark Baumer walking along I-20 yesterday in Mississippi! I recognized the the white face-frock and the baby carriage, knew that his route ran along the south, and thought to myself, “I bet that’s Mark Baumer.” Could there really be two face-frocked men pushing baby carriages along southern highways? Later I checked the Walk Across America blog, and the itinerary worked out – he went along I-20 between Jackson and Vicksburg and it was him!

I was headed west on the westbound highway and he was headed west on the eastbound highway. If we’d been on the same highway, I would’ve stopped and asked him if it was really him, then offered him all the food and water I had. I thought about trying to exit and swing back around, but ultimately I did not. I should have. Sorry, Mark.

July 5 blog I passed that Immi Station last year on my trek. It’s about 20 W of Las Cruces, NM and I stayed at that same rest stop on earlier BlgP with a rattlesnake. He’s got alot of VERY hot desert ahead of him. Scorcher is the word.
      Guess he’s averaging around 25-35mi/day.
Might think about walking at night when he gets to parts of AZ and SoCal. Day tempts will be screaming MERCY.
Best of luck to Mr. B.
