I AM WATCHING FAMILY FEUD AND FANTASIZING ABOUT ONE OF THE CONTESTANTS AND I REMEMBERED SOMETHING

i asked chris higgs this question in an interview coming up. but i wanted to ask others too. i have heard many times, something along the lines of, “a man can’t write a woman, a white can’t write a black, a non-disabled can’t write a disabled, etc.” is this true? i am not sure how i feel about this. it seems pretty pervasive though. does this mean that it would be wrong for me to write about someone with a future? or who likes the grateful dead?

NANO FICTION CONTEST: go here for contest of writing.  you can win american money. you can be a famous writer. you can be strong and healthy. you can survive a tornado. you can kick rick moranis in the balls so hard he falls to the ground gagging.  i like nano.

INTERVIEW WITH DREW KALBACH, AUTHOR OF THINGS

hello everyone. i hope this post finds you well. it is with near tumultuous joy and ecstatic anticipation that i post this dialogue, and uncover the delicate chrysalis which blooms forth young drew kalbach. Mr. Kalbach, scribe of rhythmically sublime texts THEATER and THE ZEN OF CHAINSAWS AND ENORMOUS CLIPPERS, proved gracious, and trenchant beyond his authorship. following the break, for your edification, is the transcript of our mutually scintillating discussion of all things literary, including those marginal to the field (patricide, the loss of virginity and blue slurpees). please do indulge and find fancy.

Excerpts & Reviews

I LIKE THE BOOK “UNDER MILK WOOD” MORE THAN I LIKE MOST OF MY FRIENDS BUT LESS THAN I LIKE FRUIT ROLL-UPS

mwood

i don’t remember when i first read dylan thomas’ UNDER MILK WOOD. but i have read it three or four times. which means it’s tied for most-read book with the instruction manual for the nintendo game BUBBLE BOBBLE. i don’t really like dylan thomas’ poetry but UNDER MILK WOOD is trill fucking good. i think if i took a picture of my face while reading it, i would look a lot like Squeaky Fromme when she was in court. UNDER MILK WOOD is a play about a small town and all the people in it. in order to account for things that can’t be shown, dylan thomas institues random voices to help narrate shit. i don’t want to spend a lot of time coming up with a review because that might ruin the book for me. so here are some random excerpts and my reactions.

(reactions after jump, take a peek!)

I THINK SHANE JONES IS NOT A GOOD PERSON FOR DELETING HIS BLOG BUT I KIND OF UNDERSTAND

what the fuck mang? am i typing in the wrong address? shane jones, no longer blogging? does this mean no longer writing? no longer blogging but still writing is ok. no longer blogging and no longer writing sucks the water out of shit and boils it mang. say it ain’t so shane. after reading light boxes and an excerpt from the failure six , i would be genuinely bummed if this were true. it’s like, fuck.  then again, who doesn’t think about deleting his/her blog and just running into the woods forever.
