PEOPLE: Thank you for commenting on this post. My sons are the greatest things on earth. Maybe- just maybe- I think that because they are my sons. I don’t know.
the fact that you have your son reading sam pink is fantastic. just that you are encouraging your sons to read interesting books makes you an awesome mother. my mom told me to read Howl when i was nine. i’m constantly thankful.

Thanks, Kevin. He just turned ten. He has a blog, where he writes all sorts of wonderful nonsense. He’s written other stuff- he did Nonwrimo with his class, the all of them tried to get to 50,000 words or whatever the count is. He writes music on the piano- he has a piece that he submitted to a contest. He’s fun. I know you have a boy my older boy’s age- 13? I’m planning on posting his reading of Pink soon.
pr, I feel like if I was a boy I would like your boy, but I also would be intimidated because of the accomplishments you listed above. Once I knew a kid who hit a hole in one and got on the front page of the Mississauga newspaper, this was when we were nine, and it was lucky that he was allergic to everything or else I might have hated him.
Actually, now that I think about it, the punk skipped a grade– maybe two grades? — and was like seven. A big seven, but… I can’t believe I didn’t think about this more often.

My boy Zach is going to be 15 this July 22nd! It’s crazy. He is currently (he says) about 8,000 words into a novel (further than me) and he’s working on a book of short stories too. He’s also in Search & Rescue which I am the most impressed by (he’s done a year of training!).
A ten year old blogger is awesome too though. And that’s funny that his class did the novel writing month.

wat i like most about the video is the very end where he finishes reading the words on the page and very very subtely he does this half blink as if he’s not sure what was just supposed to happen or why or when. like the little blonde charlie in willy wonka.

That’s great. How old is he?
Does he have his own poems he can read to the camera?

Oh, and Howl? Your mother was fantastic. I am getting Howl today for both of my kids.
Mothers brag. It’s our job. He’s pretty normal probably, I just worship him (and his brother) like Gods.
