Project Dust World considers the new issue of New CollAge

webflipcover

One of our regular & distinguished commenters, Michael James Martin, has some work in the new issue of New CollAge magazine, the magazine of–wait for it–New College, in Florida. Over at his site, MJM peruses the issue, which contains work by such luminaries as Dean Young, Matt Hart, Peter Jay Shippy, Emily Kendal Frey, and many more. It also contains a poem by yours truly. I’ve also got a copy of the issue sitting on my desk, and had been planning to write about it when I had a free minute to do more than just browse the thing (est’d occurrence of free minute: Nov. 7th, 5:42 PM) but since MJM nailed it, I’m just going to go ahead and direct you over his way. You can also view some excerpts from the issue (though not mine or his) over at the New CollAge website. Cheers, Michael! And a hearty cheers as well to Alexis Orgera (ed.) and the staff at New CollAge.

I dropped out of New College in 2005. It’s an abysmal and stupid place.

Haven’t seen the issue. I’m sure it’s better than the college itself. I know there were are some nice people on the staff.

Wow. Abysmal and stupid place? What about, “the place just wasn’t right for me” or “it’s so small I couldn’t handle it” or “it claims to be innovative, but it’s structure is actually quite traditional.” New College has a lot of problems, I’ll give you that, but it’s got a lot of really smart, really nice kids who like to learn new things. And the profs expect–and get–grad level work from most students.

On another note: Lobrow is cool. There’s a new one called Planet Dad Press / The Daily Dad. http://planetdadpress.blogspot.com

There are plenty of smart and nice kids. And smart and nice professors. I’m sure you’re both smart and nice too, Alexis. There are plenty of people there that I love.

but as for the place itself…i’m going to stick with abysmal.

new college is pretty cool. i go there now. i like it for the most part. i will get to write a grad school-level thesis on dennis cooper and maurice blanchot or whatever. i like that. i think you are maybe confusing “new college” with “florida.”

      also, are you joseph goosey?
