I like when rappers rhyme one phrase with the same phrase. Like Jeezy says, “I commentate the game like John Madden / Cause I played in the game like John Madden.” For sure. What’s your favorite forced rhyme?

I think Ozzy’s “Generals gather in their masses/just like witches at black masses” is the best. Cuz ya know he knew they were different kinds of masses so it was okay.

I remember back in the day thinking it was really funny/odd how Method Man, in his titular song, rhymes “cloud” with “style” and only makes them rhyme by completely slurring them (hey you get off my claaahh / you don’t know me and you don’t know my staaahh)

Rhyming Homer with homer. Also Juvenile adds “naa” to the end of every word to make them rhyme.

It’s not so much hip hop, but I would say R. Kelly tops them all with using recycled words when rhyming. He’s not so much of a favorite forced rhymer of mine, but it’s funny sometimes. Even Weird Al does a spoof on his recycled rhymes. I think R. Kelly does it a lot in that hip hopera of his–Trapped In The Closet. And for Juvey’s “Ha,” I don’t think it’s so much for rhyming’s sake, but more for a taunt or something at the end of each phrase. Like in the 20s or 30s or some time then, when people would say “right” at the end of everything. Or in England, people say “yeah” at the end of everything. Kind of comes naturally in some sense. I like his rhymes for sure, they flow well–400 Degreez is a favorite.

No joke–not even sure what happened with all that stuff. Saw him in a fight at the gym here once, a long time ago, involving himself, his bodyguards, and some regulars on the basketball court. He fled the scene after and never gave the concert. It was the first time Lousiana was mentioned on MTV, way before Britney Spears.
