Been reading along w/ Everyday Genius issue, a lot of fun.
Juiced by Jose Canseco, even though it didn’t come out this year, was one of my favorite reads this year.
Hallelujah, Giant Space Wolf by Daniel Bailey seriously rocked my world. Glad Butler recommended it here.

“Autoportrait,” Edouard Levé
“Pure Filth,” Peter Sotos
“How Should a Person Be?,” Sheila Heti
“The Map and the Territory,” Michel Houellebecq
“The Anatomy of Harpo Marx,” Wayne Koestenbaum
Was Flame Alphabet this year? That was pretty beautiful and perfect.
I need to read Pure Filth.
Damn right. Anything Nick writes is great.
please look after mom by Kyung Sook Shin. I cried three times while reading it. The book plays on your heart strings or whatever, but it does it in an entirely different way. Like there is a scene where the narrator describes the scene between the mother and her brother. Her brother lives in the same town. The two are older, in their 50s. The brother rides up on his bicycle to the edge of his sister’s yard randomly and yells, “Hey sister, are you okay.” The sister yells back, “I’m okay brother.” Then the brother rides away on his bike.
