Man, that Nabokov is especially great. I hadn’t seen that. Thanks!

I remember liking the Burns cover for what? A year before the book came out? Even when it was just a little thumbnail I was pretty excited about it. Definitely some of Steven’s best work.

Joseph did an amazing job with my cover– I couldn’t be happier with it, and I’m glad you liked it.

That’s also a great choice. I really need to get this book read.

Not to sound like a sycophant, but SCORCH ATLAS had not only a great cover but great design throughout. And also EVER. I guess they both came out this year, didn’t they? A JELLO HORSE, too.

it’s one of my favorite books of the year, if not the best reading experience i’ve ever had. there’s something about how this reads that is just goddam incredible.

These are very cool, and I like the way they work together. I wish more small presses designed books so they make a set as well as seem distinct as individuals, as these do.

That’s not at all sycophantic. The design of Scorch Atlas is out of this world and it w as such an integrative approach to merging design and content. I really think the designer should submit the book to an AIGA design competition.

I liked the design, but is it weird that I was expecting it to be like, old Penguin paperback size? When I saw it in real life I was disappointed.

I really like the cover design for Copper Nickel 12 and though it’s not quite out yet, the design for Monkeybicycle 7. It’s really nice to see publishers great and small, consistently stepping up their design game.

As long as we’re talking books that aren’t quite out yet, Adam Robinson’s cover is one of my favorites upcoming. Maybe it’s because we’re friends and I like him so much as a person, but I literally cannot help feeling happy every time I see the painting of him on the cover of his book: http://www.adamrobisonisabookofpoems.com/

I thought AM/PM cover pretty ordinary but the whole BORING BORING thing was an artifact.

I remember in grad school Ander Monson was working with Book Arts to make a book out of some skin or something?

      It’s in an interview somewhere…

Also up there on my list is Easter Rabbit. The painting and subsequent book cover was gorgeous.

Thanks Matt! I sat for 4 hours for that painting and that was just for the undercoat. Then I got mugged and had to shave my head, so Shaun Preston, the painter, had to finish from a photograph. It took him like 30 hours. The real painting hangs at the Narrow House offices . . . until I steal it.
