   I think Twain might have been the single biggest contributor to the invention of a modern, distinctively American prose style.

   Also Gertrude Stein and Dashiell Hammett, Hemingway being an overrated disciple of all three.

   Just my opinion, which I only came up with this minute. Anyway, thanks for this link.

    I think we need to now know what kind of strangeness is being associated with the obsession. Do you like to dress up like twain to read twain? or do you like to pretend to have sex with twain while only masturbating and reading various snippets? All of these are valid but I just want to know.
