really, no love for 8 1/2 by fellini instead?
i think the beginning dream sequence is the craziest shit i’ve ever seen on film, period.

hmm i’m not talking the entire film. i’m talking dream sequence.
i’ve always thought satyricon felt contrived, like it was trying too hard especially in stuff like the above scene.
each his own.

oh and i would consider luis bunuel’s “Cet obscur objet du désir” a movie told like a dream and would throw that up on the list too.

Oh yes, Stalker, Twin Peaks!
I’d add “Un chien andalou”, but this whole movve is actually just a one long strange passage.

hmm i was trying to think of a japanese movie with a good dream sequence and couldn’t.
i think the scene from “requiem for a dream” where the fridge tries to eat the old lady should be up on the best american dream sequences but not greatest of all.
thought about 8 1/2 a lot today and still think the opening dream sequence owns all.

Kurosawa?
what about him? great director, but i can’t think of any dream sequences that i would consider awesome or ball busting or clit banging or whatever.

I remember loving Dreams but it’s been like 10+ years since I saw it so I was hoping you’d go ‘oh yeeeeeeeeeeah’ …
