Seems like I’ve never had a desire to read House of Leaves until now.

  8. William VanDenBerg

And when Jimmy Chen saw the breadth of his domain, he wept for there were no more shitty authors to conquer.

  9. Gavin Pate

This is only great because MZD is so not shitty . . .

Ionno, seems pretty derivative of http://media.theonion.com/images/articles/article/76/onion_news217_jpg_600x1000_q85.jpg

  19. Jimmy Chen

yes, i will admit i was cognizant of The Onion’s wonderful 2003 ‘Girlfriend Stops Reading David Foster Wallace Breakup Letter At Page 20,’ and would merely hope that said derivation is compensated this latter’s focus on the formatting, and less on the original idea; though, inadvertently, we’ve implicated their mutual heavy use of footnotes. whoa, i recently flipped through john d’ agata’s ‘the lifespan of a fact’ which seemed more nuts than anything, mainly because the dissonance seemed imperative. it looks amazing, and i want to read that.

      hilarious.

  21. Mike James

So MDZ wrote this or J. Chen?

  22. postitbreakup

  24. C

of course he would contact someone almost half his age, that’s totally appropriate to date someone who could be your daughter…

  25. Juan Murillo

So funny and sad and true.

  26. NYSE Options

I would think a published author would know the difference between “your” and “you’re”.

  27. Peter Armstrong

I would think a published author would know the difference between “you’re” and “your”.

  28. Jimmy Chen

dude. your calling out a typo, composed at one’s employment distractedly, on a free blog; you actually felt strongly enough to do this. i mean.

  29. KansasBard

-1 for not formatting every instance of the word “house” in blue.

  30. Rachael Cleveland

I would assume the 2 spelling errors were intentional, but I fear they are not. That killed it for me! :(

  31. Merzmensch

      Awesome. MZD meets Malevich.

  33. Christopher Douglass

Is the part about “you’re work, of course” intentional?

  34. Allyson Rudolph

How am I only seeing this right now? Hereby changing my OKC profile to include HOUSE OF LEAVES and adjusting “you should contact me if,” to “you are Mark Z. Danielewski.” Thanks, HTMLGIANT, for helping me re-find intention in internet dating.

[…] House of Leaves author Michael Danielewski publishes his correspondence on OkCupid. Yup, there’s zany spatial orientation even when he flirts. […]
