Tomorrow you’re homeless, tonight it’s a blast.
Someone should write a cultural history of the celebratory sports riot.
Scratch that. Someone should give me a large enough grant or advance so I can quit my job and spend the next year or so researching and writing a cultural history of the celebratory sports riot.
(File this under a brand new category of HTML Giant post: Pitchin’ Shit to the Aether.)
Why did those guys do that to that taxi?
Who knows. Seems a random target.
I guess maybe that’s the point.
HOW MANY CAMERAS
Boston 2004.
:)
Here’s my idea to pitch to the aether: a journal that publishes nothing but freshly written serialized novellas. Would it be brilliant or idiotic? I can’t decide.
And I’d read your monograph on the sports riot. It seems utterly idiotic. What must it feel like to have your property destroyed by a crowd incensed not by a social injustice or a personal offense but by the outcome of a sports event? I think I’d leave my home and go live in a field or something and talk with rabbits.
You guys have it wrong. That taxi had it coming. That taxi paid for its misdeeds. There are no innocent taxis. The people of LA have spoken.
Maybe they mistook “Independent Cab Co.” for independent thought.
Might be brilliant. Sounds like the kind of thing you’d want to do for eReader-type things, since that’s much longer fiction you’re talking about. Or paper, there’s always paper.

Now you can smash all the windows that you want.
All you really need is some friends and a rock.

Argument for Man as inherently good…
Man as inherently evil…
Once the Law looks away (due to night, huge crowd, too little resources during a recession, etc), do we (you and me) plant flowers or break glass?
Loot, loot on, my heart.
For a little while, I thought he was singing:
“…some friends and gallant.”

… not the cultural history you’re looking for, but it has a good chapter on the notorious Stanley Cup Riots.
