I know it’s unpopular but I really liked Cosmopolis. I love books with engines, with concepts that make things move forward. The man has to get a haircut. As soon as he gets in the limo he loses control. It’s a great model for how to write with a machine in mind.

And Cronenberg is Cronenberg. This is exciting, exciting news.

I’m a big fan of Cosmopolis. I’ve blathered on about just why elsewhere on this site, but for now suffice to say, to anyone who hasn’t read it, that it deserves to be read as a kind of fable of the millennium. I think most people who dislike this book have either failed or willfully refused to understand where it’s coming from and what it’s doing. My money’s on Cronenberg to get it right.

Man, this is kinda exciting. I would have liked to see Mao II adapted, but hey, I’ll take this.
