Obama drops into Prairie Lights to browse. I’d like to see a picture of Obama and Paul Ingram hanging out.

This is ridiculous. I feel like Robert Gibbs should be a hunchback with a limp who follows Obama around everywhere while Obama feeds him dog treats out of his (Obama’s) hand.

I was in Prairie Lights this morning, but I missed President Obama’s visit. I was in the poetry section looking for Ben Mirov’s GHOST MACHINE, which I didn’t find, and books by Joshua Marie Wilkinson, which I found, at least two though the titles escape me. Then I looked at a copy of Walt Whitman’s LEAVES OF GRASS, thinking as I did so “I really need to sit down with this one day and read the entire book cover to cover.” I then looked at books by Liz Waldner and some other poets whose names I forget.
No one goes near the poetry except me and the occasional Writer’s Workshop grad student. If President Obama had asked me what he should read, I would have recommended Joshua Clover’s The Totality For Kids (University of California) or maybe that Walt Whitman thingy.
What a detailed account of stuff you looked at in a bookshop.

Actually, he was there for the Nick Antosca reading for FIRES, but showed up about two years late.
God, how I miss that store.
