i’m reading a history of surrealism — does that sum it up enough?

Pretty good. Gave up office jobs for writing recently. Just finished Moby Dick.

There’s the normal holiday malaise, but it’s not as bad as it has been in recent years.

      You?

I always feel underwater between Thanksgiving and New Years. So I just drink winter ales and whiskey and it makes more sense.

Am allowing myself to enjoy the more charming trappings of the holidays (tree in house, glug, creamed herring-yum!, knitting a scarf for my mom and a hat for my dad, driving around to look at houses decorated with hella bright red, green, orange and blue LED lights in this snowless California landscape) while repeating my seasonal mantra “think pagan, think pagan”. Also, am contemplating a day of silence in low lighting ASAP at the Ningma Institute to shed some of the attendant nervous energy.

I am visiting the family in Mississippi. Lots of cooking and shouting at each other. Good shouting and mean shouting.

Play with the flame, kiddos, and I will shove a bright poker up your collective asses.

Squirt guns? Call, I will come down to Houston and bludgeon you in front of Sam Houston State University (uh, Houston campus). I will do things to you all over that unzoned city’s entrails.

Robinson, do not make me take your cell phone.
