So, not only did I fucking love this, and love watching the dudes in hard hats nodding and getting really into it, videotaping it and shit–

but I was SO PISSED at MSNBC when they reported on it, because the vapid entertainment reporter (who usually reports on Lindsay Lohan’s partying and Tiger Woods) was all like, “What is up with this? Is Bill Murray totally crazy? Like, why is he reading poetry? He’s like, an actor. And why to construction workers? OMG this is so like totally weird I can’t even handle it.”

I hated everything for the next five minutes. Except for Bill Murray, who is god.

What a great video. I enjoyed looking at their faces when they were getting into the Dickinson. For some reason, I quite like Bill Murray, even when he is a little crazy.

Also, I now know about Poets House. What a collection. I will have to go visit the next time I am in NYC.

Bill Muthafuckin’ Murray! You’re Bill Muthafuckin’ Murray!

All this needs is The RZA and The GZA and maybe some coffee and cigarettes

Besides the Murray/GZA/RZA scene, that movie wack.

Is that the correct pronunciation of Niedecker? I thought it was NEEdecker.

tom waits and iggy was classic, bro.

Man I could not get over how boring that movie was. A few of the scenes were good (Cate Blanchett, Coogan/Molina, maybe one other… fun seeing Wu-Tang with Murray too I guess) but the rest were so blah.

Yeah. I think you’re right, actually. “ie” is an “ee” sound, whereas “ei” is an “aye” sound. Think of Einstein.

I could be wrong, but that’s always been my understanding.

  26. ce.

      Yes, to all of this.

  27. ce.

Is there video of them covering it? I’d be interested in getting pissed about this, too.

  28. Nathan Tyree

Waits and Iggy was the best. “are you sayin’ I’m a taco bell kinda guy?”

  29. mimi

In German “ie” is the “long E” “eeeee” sound. “ei” is the “long I” ( “eye”) sound – as in Einstein, which I think you are trying to communicate with the “aye” spelling, but I am hard pressed to not pronounce “aye” as the “long A” sound as in ape-shit (first thing that came to mind. sorry.)

      aye aye cap’n

I want to congratulate Bill Murray, though perhaps a bit late, on his novel idea of reading his poetry to the building site workers. I thought this was marvellous. If I had the nerve, I would try this out with some of my own poetry.
