Paperwall is awesome

These dudes over at SKINC make a pretty rad magazine called Paperwall, which you may or may not have come across while internet trolling. I must say the concept of this lil’ mag is awesome. Each issue is one pdf page of literature, and it’s usually just a few writers each time. I have a soft spot for typography and creative design, and Paperwall consistently satisfies my want for simple sexy design aaaaaaaand good literature. Woot. Their new issue features Matt Savoca (<3), John C Goodman, and our own Mr. Shane Jones. You can read each issue in about 10 minutes, and it’ll make your day feel special (Not like retarded special. I mean like special special).

i am being honest

I recently read Matthew Savoca’s, i am being honest, over at bearcreekfeed. I’ve been enamoured with this site since its first story by Kim Chinquee. Editor Colin Bassett has yet to leave me feeling anything but happily morose and disheartened.

i am being honest has this tender sensibility about domestic life, but it’s still very dour and a little sad. It reminded me of small pale humans, by daniel spinks. They both have this way of displaying the repetitive quality of relationships that is comforting but ultimately depressing as hell. I would like to marry either of these writers, but after reading their lovely work, it suddenly seems like a bad idea.

Here is Matthew reading the last (and my favorite) poem of the book. He talks in a funny voice, and I like it.

The Corduroy Mtn.

The Greying Ghost has been one of my favorite chapbook publishers for a while now. Their books are always well designed and hand made in small editions. La la la lovely, yes. They printed my favorite chapbook of 2008, Shane Jones’, I Will Unfold You With My Hairy Hands. I’m looking forward to their rad list of upcoming chapbooks by many super special writers such as Kathryn Regina, Zachary Schomburg, and Brandon Scott Gorrell.

Greying Ghost

So to get to the point- something exciting is happening over there. The same kids who make Greying Ghost are now accepting submissions for their new print magazine, The Corduroy Mtn. Yeah, ya’ll should submit to this shit because hell, you know it’s going to look good and be filled with cool shit. Hooray!
