Maine is not just a place to grab obscene amounts of lobster. Or George H W Bush socks. (Even though those are pretty good reasons to join the hordes of gaudy tourists). It is also the home of Citydrift in Portland this weekend.

Citydrift is a “three-day meta-event” seething with all sorts of Art, Writing and Performance “drifts.”

Citydrift/Portland participants will include Portland-area artists, performers, poets, musicians, printers, dancers, writers, gallerists, curators, choreographers, and more, as well as participants and drifters from across the US and the world.

and it’s going on this weekend (Sept 19-21).

Shame? No, not shame. I feel only glee in putting the cone to my mouth and bleating to you all that NOÖ [15] is finally out and that over there is what it looks like. Here is one of those crazy lists to suggest your nudge toward it: shepherds and crosses collaged, feather sisters, tossing phones into the water, animated knife piles, a girl who plays football named Tractor, shadow doves, batshit heroines, sunset cannonballs, peaceful blemishes, new gaps, #FUCKYESOXYGEN, and loving yourself at night. Check it out!

What’s the longest you’ve gone from having a piece of writing accepted for publication by a journal and the piece actually being published? (I’m interested in journals only.) I’m pushing two years for one of my favorite poems :(

I closed Dianna’s post because the discussion wasn’t taking a positive turn, and I got annoyed. I’d like to personally thank Dianna for being a thoughtful and brave person.

every day i take a look at the Poem-A-Day from The Acadamy of American Poets that arrives in my email inbox because, well, it’s usually something I can laugh about if I’m in that sort of mood.

most of these poems are, of course, pale drivel. but, every now and then a real gem like this one shows up.
