I recorded a commentary track for “Drive”
Hey, HTMLGiant. I recorded a commentary track for Drive; you can download it here. It’s an mp3, 42 MB, 104 minutes long.
Of course I made it so brilliant that you can just listen to it on its own. But if you watch it with Drive (recommended!), it’s all synced up, so cue it to start when the Universal logo starts.

Next, I’ll record commentary for Inception.
And Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
And The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
And Southland Tales.
Update: I forgot to include a link to Scorpio Rising. Here’s a clip:
And here’s the full film.

If you really have the iron constitution needed to make a commentary track for Southland Tales I would absolutely love to listen to that though there’s no way I’d see the film again (I did it on a dare).
the link doesn’t work.
The link is weird. Here, try this:

Thanks! I’ll try to correct it…
OK, it should be fixed now. Sorry about that.
I’ve seen ST maybe four or five times. I’m more concerned about sitting through the LOTR films again…
As someone who rips audio commentaries to mp3 for on-the-go listening, this is exciting. Thank you, A D — hope you really are planning to do a lot of these.
Thanks! And, yes, I am planning to do more!
I’m also going to make some short videos critiquing some scenes/sections of certain films. I’m almost finished with one that analyzes the first three scenes in Inception.
am i the only one who wasn’t wowed by drive?
yes
not only are you the only person who reads htmlgiant who wasn’t wowed by drive, you are the only person in all of history who wasn’t wowed by drive
i love a good monosyllabic title (jaws, saw, north, mash), but drive, i think, could’ve been drivier.
Excited for the Southland Tales commentary. I’m the only person I know with a fondness for it.
i thought it was ok
Ignatiy Vishnevetsky also likes it.
Driviest?
I like it too
Wow. Though I’m the only person left on earth who hasn’t seen any of the LOTR films so I can’t compare. The only thing in ST that didn’t make my face ache was Justin Timberlake lip-syncing to the Killers song in the abandoned arcade because I can always get on board with music videos.
I didn’t say the film doesn’t make my face ache! Portions of it, at least. But it’s some kind of weird achievement, though, warts and all.
What can I say? I’m drawn to the outliers.
The JT/Killers segment is easily my favorite part. That and the dance scene aboard the blimp at the end.
Yeah, exactly! My commentary is for those who wanted more talking in the film!
I just updated the post, adding some links re: Scorpio Rising.
i like the idea of commentary for short art films. how about one for invocation of my demon brother?
that scorpio rising update is like slapping a tramp stamp on an old lady with little fangs & way too much time to tell you about her fucking lap dogs
I love the mask and the scorpion jacket and the weird teenage vision of masculinity. Thanks for doing this commentary. It gives me an excuse to rent the movie again.
That’s a very good idea!
You’re welcome!
